A couple computer-esk questions (I’m not very computer savvy…. :-]?
Okay, so I recently got the trojan virus, or some other virus I can’t recall, and had to get my whole computer wiped clean. Now I no longer have Microsoft word, which I desperately need for school…. is there a way to get it for free off the internet or something? I’ve never paid for it before.
I also caved in and downloaded firefox. So glad I did… I love it. But how do I make something my homepage?
Lastly, my Computer Used to have the options when I clicked “Turn off computer” under the start menu, to click “hibernate”. I just got it back, and it only allows “standby”, “turn off”, and “restart”. I always hibernate… it’s so much easier to turn back on. Is there a way to go into my computer or something and re-allow hibernating?
Thanks.
But what if I want multiple homepages (one in a different tab)…. I can’t figure out how to do that.
Oh, I have windows XP, I think. It’s an older computer… about four years old. Definitely not Vista. I have a toshiba satellite.
OK, as for the firefox thing, if you click on “edit”, and in the menu click “preferences”. A box will pop up- click the main tab, and you can enter the URL of the website you want to set as your homepage, or you should be able to find a button that says “use current page(s) as homepage” and if you have multiple tabs open it’ll use that. It’s pretty simple, unless you have a different version than me.
I’m pretty sure standby is the same as hibernate, at least similar enough in function that it will work for you- you should try that.
And as for using Microsoft word, there are free knock off versions that are (supposedly) compatible online. The one I’ve heard of is “Open Office”… I put a link in the sources section for you.
I hope this helped, if not you know how to ask me for more details. I used firefox for like 4 years at least so I’m pretty good with it if you still can’t figure that out.
K-On! DTA On my Computer
