How can I prevent my computer from being a dust-trap?
My computer desk is full of dust. My desk is in a corner (not kiddy corner) my computer is set long-ways, so I can see its side windows. There are 2 case fans going beneath the side-window, and they attract alot of dust around them.
You couldn’t avoid much in the dusty environment, especially one who lives in the city main street area or near industrial park.
I found a dramatic reduce solution without insert any filter into the PC case which may cut the cooling efficient airflow within. That’s is, add an Ionic air cleaner by the fan area where air draw into your PC.
Every once in awhile, you just pull out the metal strip wipe off those dusts.
You could buy one at eBay, cost somewhere 15.00 to 50.00. depends the model. Be aware, PC itself creates negative charges, therefore you don’t need fancy ozone devices, those air cleaners only kill odor but not efficient dusts magnet. You need the one came with metal strip that create negative charges attract as much of the dusts before pull into your PC as well as quiet.
My work PCs had seen significant reduced to hardly see any since the day I started it 3 years ago and it was almost clogged the fans in few months.
I attach a link so you have a rough idea what you’re looking for.
p/s: another solution if you don’t want to spend a dime for it is to vacuum the dust area by placing your vacc hose in front of the problem areas. Make sure your PC is unplug 1st so there will be no static or accident that may ruin your day.
