How do i get my computer to play sound with 5.1 surround sound.. through a coaxil cable….?
I have a coaxil cable plugge din to the computer and the surround sound system… I also have it set to digital on the surround system.. But i only get sound from the two front speakers and some of the subwoofer…… I have a realtek 7.1 sound card and i have it set to go through the digital output… But the other speakers wont produce sound….. Yes they work…
You will only get surround sound from pre-encoded sources which for the most part means DVD’s. However, some movie files have embedded Dolby digital or DTS tracks.
To get surround sound from games you will need a sound card which can encode to DTS or Dolby Digital on the fly. Some options are as follows:
Auzentech X-Plosion, Prelude or Meridian
HT OMEGA Striker or Claro
Bluegears B-enspirer
If you just want sound to come out all the speakers when playing music you can change the listening mode on the receiver to PLII or similar mode. This will provide some level of ambience.
