Dell laptop Computer Battery / charger?
It seems like over time the life of my battery has gotten less and less. Now when I try to plug in the charger it constantly says that my charger is unplugged and I’m using the battery power. I have to hold the end of the charger where it plugs into the computer to keep it plugged in. When the charger isn’t plugged in the computer makes a squeaking sound. It’s really annoying! What is this from? Do I need to get a new battery or charger or both?
Yeah, your battery’s on its last legs. There’s a chemical reaction in there that makes the electricity, and after enough charge/discharge cycles, it gets tired and depleted. Probably time to replace it.
But if you have to hold the cable in a certain way to get it to work, there might be a break in the wire inside the insulation. That’s a good old-fashioned fire hazard, as long as it’s the cable that you’re holding; you might be moving the socket around inside the laptop case and making a better connection. You’ll feel the difference.
That squeaking noise is either your fan or your hard drive. Hope it’s the fan.
