I just got a computer mic and it won’t work. How can I fix it?

It’s a 10$ HP computer microphone. I bought it to chat online on msn messenger and it won’t work. It didn’t come with directions or anything. Is there a way to fix it?

It should work. Did you try adjusting the volume control? Double click the volume icon in task bar. Choose Options->Properties->Recording. Check the microphone. Make sure it is not muted. Raise to full volume. Do the same for playback found in Options->Properties.
