Hi all,
There are Windows XP and Fedora core 6 operating system in my computer. While i was working on XP today, electricity goes down and I went out. When i came home and open my XP, Computer open but the screen is black after the boot. Windows first greeting screen can not be shown even. It couldn't be fix, the screen is always black. There comes sound from hard disk and fans. What do you think about this problem, and what can i do. I am writing this post on Fedora. It is OK now.

hello,
I downloaded a movie from the internet (ext.avi). However when i try to delete it, a message comes up saying that the file is being used by another progam and cannot be deleted. I checked on the internet and found a solution to this issue - by deleting a file form the windows register. It worked...for a while. Now whenever I restart my pc, the folder(empty) keeps appearing on my desktop. How do i get rid of it permanently?

Hello!
I have DELL loaded with Windows XP Media Center 2005.Recently I install Norton Ghost.When I started create virtual partition, computer restart and message appear Missing Operating System.I try reboot it with Re installation DVD it did not help.I anyone knows how I can go to the previous settings. It looks like just F2 and F12 working.

I have some excel files, and some windows folders that were deleted, but the icon is still on the desktop.
The icons do not respond to the mouse, nor can they be moved.
They do not show up in SAFE MODE.

Dear Forum
Using Windows XP pro on my laptop, I have a problem after I have gone into "MY COMPUTER" . The list of drives is shown as should be the case including the "C" drive and my flashdrive which is shown as "removable drive". However when I try to enter either of these drives by double clicking on them, the drive doesnt open to me as it should do but the "open with" box appears. I find rather the only way to get into the contents of the drive is by right-clicking and going to explorer.
Any advice and help on curing this problem would be appreciated. Ian

My computer appeared to keep cycling in sleep mode. I would start the computer out of sleep mode then it would go back in sleep mode and keep trying to reboot. I disabled auto restart upon failure and received the following message: "STOP: c000021a {Fatal System Error} The Session Manager Initialization system process terminated unexpectedly wiht a status of 0xc000026c (0x00000000 0x00000000). The system has been shut down." Please help as I can't start my computer. Thank you.

I have larger than full screen view on my netbook, which I think occurred when I tried top make the font larger. Now I can't make it return to the size window which can be viewed all at once.

A Friend of mine has a weird problem
with her Computer. It's like she is set
up for an international keyboard, but it
is nothing she has set up, and it is
something she can't seem to undo....
None of her number keys work, except
for the 5 & 6, which type out "j" & "k" for
some reason. The "?" is a "É", most of
the letter keys that actually work, type
out a different letter. The letters q,w,e,a,
s,d,z,x,c don't work at all. The "enter"
button doesn't work at all.
I believe the ";" key displays a "ç" and
the "[" key displays a "è" and lots of
other strange stuff...
Tried switching out keyboards and it
doesn't make any differance. got online
(on a different computer) and tried the
simple fix of "SHIFT & CTRL" and that
didn't work. Checked the Language
Options and that doesn't seem to be the
issue. Tried a keboard diagnostic through
Windows and it says the keyboard is
working properly.
Any idea's or guidance to help this person
get her computer to behave again?

i have windows xp service pack2. there is virus kind of thing in my one of secondary drives. what it do it in every folder it simply make a .exe file with the name of folder, resulting the presence of .exe file in every folder that i have on my hard disk.

Whenever my Xp is starting a heavy application or trying to connect to network resource, mouse click and keyboard are disabled, i'm able to move the cursor and use scroll button but the click(left/right) aren't working, similarly i'm able to use winkey & esc key in the keyboard other keys aren't working. This problem exist for only few minutes, then my pc becomes normal. I could'nt trace out which is causing the problem, I dont suspect a virus because i just installed my windows two days ago. Please Help!
